Breccia is formed by the cementation of broken fragments of other rocks, such as limestone, sandstone, or granite. These fragments, called clasts, are typically angular and can range in size from pebbles to boulders. The cementing material that holds the clasts together can be composed of minerals such as calcite, silica, or iron oxide.

Breccia is a visually striking rock due to its colourful and varied appearance. The clasts in breccia can be different colours and textures, depending on the type of rock that was broken apart to form it. The cementing material can also be colourful, ranging from white to red to green.
