Amygdaloidal Basalt is a type of volcanic rock that is characterised by its dark colour and fine-grained texture. It often forms as a result of lava flows cooling rapidly on the surface, with gas bubbles trapped within the rock forming distinctive cavities known as amygdales. These amygdales can be filled with a range of minerals, including zeolites, calcite, and quartz.

It has many practical applications, including as a construction material, in road-building, and as a source of mineral aggregates.
