(Pt E250-1, E264-5, E280-1) Bristol District (1:50,000/S&D)

A geological map of the Bristol District and surrounding areas.

This map captures a region outside the glacial influence that shaped most of Britan, it showcases a landscape defined by millions of years of uplift and erosion. The sedimentary bedrock tells a tale of diverse environments, from shallow seas to deserts, dating back hundreds of millions of years.

Including older sedimentary bedrock with sandstones, limestones, and coal-bearing mudstones, as well as younger layers like Sherwood Sandstone and Jurassic limestones. These layers have shaped the region's famous gorges, caves, and river valleys.

Furthermore, the map showcases the ancient basement rocks, over 415 million years old, visible in areas like Tortworth, featuring folded and faulted sedimentary rocks with volcanic layers.

Meticulously surveyed on a six-inch scale between 1938-1952 by F.B.A. Welch, G.A. Kellaway, G.W. Green, F.M. Trotter, T.R.M. Lawrie, and R.W. Pocock.

Please note the slight price increase on this is due to the fact a small portion of the maps were part of a former flat map stock which were converted to a folded version at a cost.
