Amphibolite is a type of metamorphic rock that is primarily composed of amphibole minerals, such as hornblende, and plagioclase feldspar. It has a dark colour and a fine-grained texture, and often contains banding or foliation resulting from the intense pressure and heat that the rock experienced during metamorphism. Amphibolite forms as a result of the metamorphism of mafic igneous rocks, such as basalt or gabbro. It is commonly found in regions with high geological activity, such as mountain ranges or volcanic areas.

Amphibolite has a variety of uses, including as a building material and in the production of cement.
