Chris Darmon, geologist extraordinaire, and award winning educationalist, leads all of our tours. Few people have the breadth of knowledge that he has amassed over the past 35 years. Our tours are informal and put each individual at the heart of the learning experience. Yes, we learn but we also have fun together!
Our groups are usually small, between 10 and 20, and comprise a wide spectrum of people who share an interest in geology and the landscape.

"The Geology of the British Isles"
This course will examine the geological history of the British Isles from its origins around 3,000 million years ago through to the most recent Ice Age. This course would be suitable for anyone with a basic knowledge of geology and how the Earth works.
Using the latest information about the deep geology of Britain, coupled with his personal field knowledge, gathered over the past 40 years, Chris Darmon will take you on an amazing journey through time and space to delve beneath the skin of these islands.
The course will commence in January and run through to Easter and will be presented in a series of weekly ‘lessons’. With plenty of online materials to augment these lessons and the opportunity to join an online community this should be a lively course.

Techniques in Field Geology"
If you have an interest in field geology, but want to know more about how to ‘read the rocks’, then this course is most definitely what you have been looking for! Starting from first principles, you are taken; step by step through the basic techniques that can be used examine rocks in the field.
This is a repeat of our popular course that was first run during 2011. Even though the course does not begin until April 2012, we are taking enrolments now.
