Morecambe Bay forms a dramatic physical landscape of immense scientific value. Its physical environment is characterised by estuarine mudflats, interfingering stark, fault-bound, limestone uplands which are separated by lowland mosses. The limestone is riddled with caves and hidden valleys, and contains some of the largest and most spectacular karst landforms known in the British Isles. As far as we are aware, this is the only book on the physical landscape of Morecambe Bay. It investigates the following features: the Deepdale dolines, Karst hydrology at Dunald Mill Hole, Hawes Water polje and the spectacular limestone pavements of Hutton Roof Crags.
